Our Nurse Aide training program is located in Ashburn, VA, a convenient location for students who reside in Loudoun or western Fairfax County. Upon successful completion of the course, students are prepared to take the Virginia Board of Nursing exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Moon River Nursing Careers is excited to announce our new partnership with the American Red Cross

Moon River Nursing Careers is now offering a new Nurse Aide class every month. Students can complete the course in just 5 weeks and are well prepared to take the Board of Nursing exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). There are thousands of job openings for a well-trained CNA. Our graduates can decide whether they want to work in a hospital, clinic, an assisted living community, Hospice, memory care or in home health.

ATTENTION: Virginia Board of Nursing has increased the number of hours for Nurse Aide training, effective May 1, 2023. The new requirement is 140 hours (an increase of 20 hours over the present requirement).

THE 140-HOUR NURSE AIDE COURSE INCLUDES:

  • 50 hours online instruction that can be taken from your home any time of day that is convenient for you. We use the engaging American Red Cross curriculum that uses professionally produced videos to show students what a CNA does in a typical day. Students get to experience the joys and challenges faced by a new CNA and experience the rewarding relationships she forms with her patients.
  • 20 hours training in dementia and end-of-life care.
  • 30 hours skills lab at Moon River Nursing Careers in Ashburn, VA.
  • 40 hours of clinical training at a long-term care facility.

    Weekdays Class
    Online section: October 9-22 (can be taken from home any time that is convenient for you)
    Skills Lab Sessions: October 23 – 27 (8am -2:30pm)
    Clinicals: October 30 – November 3 (6:45am – 3:15pm)
  • NOVEMBER 6 –  DECEMBER 1 (Accelerated Program)
    Weekdays Class
    Online section: November 6-19 (can be taken from home any time that is convenient for you)
    Skills Lab Sessions: November 20-25 (8am -2:30pm)
    Clinicals: November 27 – December 1 (6:45am – 3:15pm)

*All classes are subject to student enrollment. If there are not enough students for a scheduled class, the course dates may be altered.

Moon River Nursing Careers accepts private pay students and those who are approved for federal funding.

FEDERAL FUNDING INFORMATION:

Adult jobseekers, dislocated workers, and young adults that meet program eligibility criteria may be able to receive funds to go towards the cost of their training through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) with the Virginia Career Works – Northern Region. Under the WIOA principle of streamlining services, Individual Training Accounts (ITAs) are issued to qualified individuals by certified Virginia Career Works –Centers throughout the Northern Virginia area.
